RCBC Credit Cards donates close to P3 million to Gawad Kalinga

Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC), through its credit card arm, RCBC Bankard Services Corporation turned over close to P3 million in donations to Gawad Kalinga (GK), a Philippine-based poverty alleviation and nation-building movement.

The donation was raised based on the full-year card usage of RCBC Diamond Platinum Mastercard cardholders. Through the Card’s built-in Diamond Cares Program, for every P100 spent using the Card, RCBC automatically donates P0.10 to GK.

This has been an annual program of RCBC Credit Card to help fund GK’s massive feeding program called “Kusina ng Kalinga”. 

During the turnover of the donation, RCBC Bankard Services Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Arniel Vincent B. Ong vowed to continue its partnership with GK.

Arniel B. Ong, President and CEO of  RCBC Bankard Services Corp., assist in the distribution of packed lunches from the Gawad Kalinga’s Kusina ng Kalinga kitchen.

“This partnership with GK started many, many years back. We at RCBC, as corporate citizens, see it as our responsibility to help the country and the communities around us,” Ong said.

“There are many things we are doing around various areas of the UN SDGs [United Nations- Sustainable Development Goals]. This partnership with GK is part of our commitment.  We are happy to turn over our donation on behalf of RCBC Credit Cards. We also want to connect our employees and our cardholders to the GK communities as we see that a lot of our customers and employees want to help in nation-building. We want to continue enabling them.” he further said.

GK is present in 33 provinces in Luzon; 14 provinces in the Visayas; and 22 provinces in Mindanao.

The executives & officers of  RCBC Bankard Services Corp., together with the staff of Gawad Kalinga, volunteered to serve meals to the children of the Arkong Bato community.

Meanwhile, RCBC Credit Card also turned over its first donation to the Zonta Foundation for Women. Received by Zonta District 17 Governor Lia Bautista, the donation likewise came from the Diamond Cares program.

In partnership with the Zonta Foundation for Women (Zonta), RCBC said it will continue to help with the advocacy of empowering women and girls and expand their access to education, health care, economic opportunities, and safe living conditions.
