Jetti Fuels support the Charity Program of Upsilon Sigma Phi
Jetti Petroleum Inc. – Integrated Marketing Team, together with Upsilon Sigma Phi are working together for “Kariton Klasrum” charity program to provide education to the children who couldn’t afford to go to school.
The importance of Kariton Klasrum Charity Program.
This program established by Efren Peñaflorida, a Filipino teacher and development worker. He was a victim of bullying during his childhood. He grew up in an impoverished area and knew the difficulties of and studying in school. Mr. Efren was the first to conduct a “Kariton Klasrum”. But,so far many Filipinos are doing it and one of them is the Upsilon Sigma Phi and named this is as “Kariton ng Pag-asa”.
The Upsilon Sigma Phi (ΥΣΦ) is the oldest Greek-letter organization and fraternity in Asia. Founded in 1918, it is also the oldest student organization in continuous existence in the University of the Philippines.
As they celebrate 104 years in the industry, they organized 10 types of charity events, and one of them is the Kariton ng Pag-asa: Education on Wheels Outreach. This was held at Pook Malinis, Barangay UP Campus, Diliman, Quezon City. This project advocacy aims to provide long term and sustainable educational aid to out-of-school youths. In partnership with the Kariton ng Maralita Network, the project will produce over 2 Kariton Klasrums filled with books, art & sports materials, chairs, and other necessities for the school youth of Barangay UP Campus.
Aling Bebang Quizon Alcan – their Community Leader was the one who pushed for their place to be chosen for this project. Since she grew up without a formal education, she wants to help her community to educate not only the children but also the mother of these poor children.
Kariton Klasrum was organized by Upsilon Sigma Phi. Mr. Andres Manuel III is the moderator of the event and Mr. Aldrin Soriano, served as storyteller and teacher for the children while Mr. Danny Liamzon and Nate Galiguez are the Photographer of the group. And also the other member of the team who assist the children, Mr. Jason Mago, Mr. Justin Hapa and Atty. Eman Osorio.
