UnionBank goes to customers, launches first 5G-powered ‘Banking on Wheels’

Banking just keeps getting more fun in the Philippines with UnionBank’s newest offering dubbed “Banking on Wheels.”

Rolled out last Monday, “Banking on Wheels” is the Philippines’ first 5G-powered airconditioned banking kiosk in a mobile van that enables customers to conveniently and comfortably avail of banking services like balance inquiries, withdrawals, bills payments, funds transfer and even account opening.

With 5G technology, UnionBank can leverage on higher bandwidth and faster internet connection – 20 times faster than other networks available – so this means better, faster and more reliable digital services to the bank’s clients.

Government Service and Insurance System pensioners warmly welcomed “Banking on Wheels” during its launch at UnionBank’s Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City branch to augment the automated teller machines during the release of GSIS pension payments.

The van is scheduled to go to various places on a predetermined schedule to provide banking services.

Chief technology and operations officer and chief transformation officer Henry Aguda said UnionBank is in constant pursuit of ways to bring the bank closer to its customers as aligned with its advocacy to promote financial inclusion.
