Mercury Drug Opens Diamond Store on its 75th Anniversary

Launches new jingle, mascots, and a year-long campaign to thank their Sukis

Mercury Drug opened its Diamond Store at 2 Hercules St. cor. Makati Ave. in celebration of the country’s largest drugstore chain’s 75th anniversary, 1 March 2020.

Mercury Drug VP for Chainstore Operations Martin Gumayan encouraged their employees and business partners to continue working together in providing quality service among their customers. “As Mercurians, we have so much to celebrate and be thankful for, especially to our founder, Dr. Mariano Que. To our business partners, thank you for always supporting Mercury Drug, and to our fellow Mercurians, thank you for your efforts in setting up our Diamond Store for its opening today. To the officers of the branch, thank you for I know you will start right in order to make this branch memorable. To the staff, let’s continue our remarkable service through hard work and patience. Let us work together as a team, as a family supporting one another for the success of this branch and Mercury Drug as a whole,” said Gumayan.

Azcona, Assistant to the President; and, Violeta Rodriguez, District Manager, on Sunday, March 1, officially open Mercury Drug’s Diamond Branch in Makati City in celebration of the largest drugstore chain’s 75th anniversary.

The branch opening was celebrated with a Holy Mass led by Bishop Raul Martirez and Fr. William Parde. The ribbon was cut at exactly 7:50 AM by Mercury Drug President Vivian Que-Azcona, Assistant to the President Steven Q. Azcona and Bishop Martirez assisted by Gumayan, AVP Central Area Jaime Espiritu, and District Manager Violeta Rodriguez. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was followed by the store blessing.

Mercury Drug also launched its new jingle entitled “Sa Mercury Drug Ikaw ay Nakasisiguro,” composed by Mercurian Jose R. Gomora, Jr., overall winner of Mercury Drug’s jingle competition, who was “inspired by Mercury Drug being number one and certified pulido at binusisi talaga lahat for the good of our customers.” Also, Mercury Drug’s new mascots, Merc and Rian, were introduced to the public for the first time during the branch opening.

Like its other stores, the diamond branch offers a wide range of branded and generic medicines, as well as a self-service section of healthcare products, personal care items, and basic household products. Also available in the Diamond Store is the new self-service kiosk where customers can view the medicine selections, place their order and pay using their credit card, debit card or Paymaya QR.
